Make Your Own Buttons for Cricut Sweethearts Layout

09 February
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 01:20 Written by Megan Elizabeth 55 Comments

In this “Sweetheart” Layout for my daughters 7 Month snapshots I decided to make my own buttons to go along with the look I wanted.

Products I used in this video include:

  • Simply Sweet Cricut Cartridge
  • Paisley Cricut Cartridge
  • Tim Holtz Grungeboard Cuts
  • Tim Holtz Stickles
  • Stampin’ Up Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo Ink and Card Stock
  • K & Company Pattern Paper
  • Ribbon
  • Liquid Embossing, Glossy Accents or Glass Effects

It’s pretty simple and you can integrate making your own buttons into almost any project you are working on.  Saves you money by not buying a thousand and time running to the store in the middle of a layout! :)

Hope you enjoyed today and can’t wait for next Tuesday’s Layout which is going to show one of the trends from the 2010 Trends Report :)

Thanks for the tip about the buttons. Those would be great on cards. Sometimes real buttons are too thick to use when you mail cards. These would be a great alternative. Thanks.

I loved the button lesson. Way too cute and easy. Can’t wait to try it. I have a lot of buttons I’ve collected but never seem to have the right color. Wondering if there is a way to add or change the color of a real button? By the way don’t ever stop these videos they inspire me.

    Thank you

Megan, I love that lo. You are so creative and make it look so easy to design a page. I never thought of cutting part of the background paper that will be covered up to use as an embellishment!

@Linda – YES you can alter buttons you already have by using Alcohol Inks – I TOTALLY love Vivas because of how intense the colors are – but Tim Holtz works too! :)

You can also use Acrylic Paint _ BUT it can peel – so you have to be careful. (it’s not my favorite look)
