New Year, New Blog, New You? 36

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS!!!! 🙂

I’m so thankful and blessed by each one of you and all of the new followers we have this 2013 year!!!!  I hope you have a healthy and blessed year – it’s 2013!!!!! 🙂

I love the new year!  I love celebrating what was and looking forward to what will be!  I know there really isn’t anything truly magical to the stroke of midnight – but it feels like there is!!! 🙂

God promises each new day we can renew our minds in Him and be a new creation in Him – and the new year seems even more so true!  My pastor at Community Church in Oshkosh gave an amazing message this past Sunday and he even said, the joys of December 31 will still be there on the 1st and the struggles of the 31st will also still be there on the 1st, but its still something about going forward, and he is right.  He gave a wonderful message about things he wished he would have said more of in 2012, it really challenged me and I thought maybe it could encourage you – You can listen to his message HERE if you feel so inclined for the new year! Just click on Media 🙂 It’s the message for Dec 30 by Alan Cleaveland. 🙂

Well, this is also a WHOLE NEW WEBSITE! Incase you missed it or are new to AboveRubiesStudio.com!  I’m really excited!  You can check out the “Getting Started with Above Rubies” link at the top of the page to see all the popular posts and things that are going on here.  Of course the new posts will remain in date order as always, but you can also search by date on the lower right side bar, I love that we added that.

There’s also going to be an AMAZING sale coming in honor of CHA coming up in just two short weeks and in celebration of 2013 and all the NEW Die Cutters this Christmas who are joining us!  I LOVE this week every year we gain hundreds of new friends who are looking to learn more about their Cricut Machines and I really wanted to make it as easy on everyone as possible with this new site! Sale starts January 4th 2013 – so make sure you’re here and miss nothing!

What’s happening to 2013!?

Well I’m working on my whole new Smash book for 2013.  It will include all my new goals for the year, everything from my personal, spiritual, for the kids and business goals. Smash booking is a great way to keep a visual track of things you wish to accomplish and desire to work towards. You can see my Smash book for 2012 HERE.

You can also “Claim a Word” for 2013.  Pick ONE word that you really want to focus on a that represents you for the year. I’ve seen a lot of people do this and it can be a beautiful thing. My word for 2013 is CHOICES.  Everything comes down to choices, whether good or bad, they all have a consequences, they all produce results. This year I’m really focused on the word CHOICES and which choices I will make. 🙂 I’m going to use Square1 and both print and cut out this word and place it in my bathroom and next to my bed for 2013.  I think it is a word I want to remind my children of regularly and I’m just sure this fits.

AboveRubiesStudio.com will continue with Tuesday Tutorials every Tuesday at it has since it’s start in 2008. 🙂 I will also be continuing doing Check This Out videos Sponsored by Craft-e-Corner.com starting out this new year. Tanner Bell will be part of the AboveRubiesStudio.com team and share a TNT (Tip and Trick) video every other Thursday with you for awhile into the new year as well!  I also have quite a few TNT’s to share as well! 😉  I will be working for Square 1 Masterpiece Adhesive Fabric and I will be doing regular videos for them also that you can watch mostly at www.Square1Masterpiece.com (though I’ll make sure I remind you here too).  I have a bunch of fun things planned for 2013 with ARS and I’m thrilled you’re all along for the ride!  Humbles and blesses me so very much.

Something I need to know from you:  Would you like me to recap all of the “Best of’s” 2012 with you?  If so, please let me know in the comments section and I will work on that Top 12 of 2012 post for you!!!

Like I said, CHA is coming up quick!  SO, also, let me know what you want to see at the SHOW! I’ll do interviews and videos with all of your favorites, so make sure you tell me what you want to see and hear about most!!! 😉

Enjoy the Moments this 2013!  Be blessed! Make Goals, Be a New Better You!!! 🙂

HUGS and SO MUCH LOVE!

Thank you Elizabeth this post was very nicely written and inspiring. A recap of the top 12 of 2012 would be a nice reminder of all that you have shared with us. Blessings to you and your family

I think you should focus on 2013 😉 It is a year with fresh starts and it is a choice for you! lol 😉 See how I can use your word?? I would rather have new vids than a recap vid. I watched them all throughout the year 🙂 Thanks for all you do in vids… would love to see a vid on how you edit your vids though as that is my goal for 2013 is to edit my vids and show them off! As always, your words are so inspiring. I have thought for a long time before writing this post as I needed to contemplate my one word. I have decided on “Cherish” for my word of the year. I suffered some deep personal losses in 2012, several in the last 3 months. I want to cherish every moment and be grateful for each, never wishing away even a second. I want to be more mindful of the joy in everything that God has blessed me with in my life, appreciating every happiness and every struggle.

Thank you, Megan, for helping me to start 2013 by putting these feelings into words! Thank you, also, for your amazing site! Happy and Blessed 2013 to everyone! 🙂

What a wonderful and inspiring post you have written for 2013. I feel blessed to have found your blog years ago and even though I get emails from other blogs, ARS is my all time favorite. It educates and informs us on new things, you honor God in all you do. and as a Christian, it is nice to follow a Christian based blog. I wish you the best of everything in 2013 for you and your precious children. Raising your children and working so hard at this site is remarkable and challenging, but we know that God will see us through whatever comes our way. Thank you Megan for all you do. You are my friend on line and I hope one day to get to meet you in person (my wish for the future) Peggy

Happy New Year Megan! I don’t usually make resolutions for the New Year. They almost always fall by the wayside, but this year I wanted to focus on becoming a gentle and less negative person. I find that my mind sometimes goes to the negative side of things and I don’t like that because I feel unhappy when I do that. So my one word would probably be “Positivity”…

Thank you Megan for all that you do for this community of followers.

Megan I love your blog and your enthusiasm!! My word for 2013 is SMILE because when I really smile my whole self relaxes a little and I can stay on the positive side of things. I want to smile more and worry less. Happy 2013!!!

Megan, Happy j!!! Loved this first post for the new year. I am looking forward to learning more tricks ways to use the tools and also how to create with my Cricut. I am so ‘ craft challenged’ and your ideas and tips are really helpful. Thank you also for sharing the message from your pastor! It is so refreshing to know that you love the Lord and give Him credit for all He has done for us. I would love a recap of 2012 as I missed some of your posts throughout the year.

Happy New Year Megan!! I am looking forward to learning more ways on how to create more with my Cricut, and all of your videos have been so helpful. Your Cricut Cutting guide has been my best tool for me so far!! I am very new to crafting I have only had my Cricut and Cuttlebug for three months, So my word for 2013 will be Inspiration, since I am new to crafting, I will find the inspiration to craft something everyday, for myself and for my friends and family. Again thank you for this post and Thank you also for sharing the message from your pastor! My biggest goal for the year will be to create my own videos to inspire others like the way you have inspired me. Take Care and God Bless!!

    Hi Megan,

I’m really excited to see your new blog up and running and all the new cool features! I pray that you are your family will have an abundantly blessed 2013.

Megan, I was just wondering if you could tell me what’s happening with the “Vote For me: Featured Craft Blogger” section of your blog. I still have the link to it on my blog but when I click on it there is no place for people to click and vote for me. Anyhow, I just wondered because … I was winning with the most votes, lol 🙂 Is this something you aren’t planning on doing anything with? Should I take the link off my blog now?

Thanks for all you do for your fans, Megan! I truly value the tips and techniques you share with us and all the crafting knowledge you have.

  • Joene

Thanks for your 2013 New Year message. I think my special word is a phrase. WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). I would enjoy whatever videos you have for us no matter what year.

Megan, Love the new format of your website, but please check this part of the website:

Under “Speak Your Mind” for the new comments, the information is showing Tina Kuhlmann’s name, email, website information in the spot for the next person, rather than in her post.

On the other posts, a person’s email does not show unless they post it in the comments (for privacy).
I’m sure that you will want to check this out.

Hi Megan, what a beautiful post, thank you. I wish you and your Family a Blessed and Wonderful New Year. My Daughter and her friends take photos every time they go somewhere and she prints the photos on photo paper. The photos go up on her wall with thumb tacks, I can’t tell you how many thumb tack holes in her wall, but plenty. I purchased 2 packs of SQUARE1 inkjet printable media 8.5″x11″ for my Daughter at Christmas and she LOVED it. My Daughter has already used both packs, LOL, not surprising. My Husband loved the ideas because no more Thumb Tack Holes. Thank you so much for introducing us to this amazing product. I would love a review of 2012, thank you so much.

  • Kathy Davis

You are such an inspiration. I know that you had many challenges in 2012 yet you always seem so positive. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family. Your faith sets such an example for all of us. I can only imagine how much of a blessing that is to your sweet kiddos. Happy New Year!

    Thanks so much!

Happy New Year, Megan. My word is THANKFUL. I recently retired, and I’m thankful for the joys of life. I love your site, your videos, your family, and your energy. I recently watched your video on the ebosser, and I ordered it on the spot. I’d love to see some videos on different ways to use it.
    Have a wonderful year.
