How to Prepare Bible Pages for Bible Art Journaling with Gesso
Bible Journaling is becoming a big part of my daily life in my 2023 goals, so I have had a lot of trial and error in learning how to Bible journal so my ink doesn’t bleed through the pages. I want to be able to use distress oxide inks, stamp, paint, and water color in my Bible without worry that you’re going to see my art through the pages. So I have started to prep my Bible for journaling with clear Gesso. I have found this is my favorite thing to use for Bible Art because its totally clear, smooth and gives me the best bleed free results for Bible Journal pages. I tried using Acrylic Paint for Bible Journaling, but I don’t love it especially with the off white/cream Bible pages. The texture paste is a lot of fun, but also textured and white. ModPodge in both clear matte or glossy is a great option, but it seems to take longer to dry and I really don’t enjoy writing on top of that finish. So the Clear/Transparent Art Basics Gesso has given me the best results for my desires. Doesn’t cause major wrinkling to the Bible, gives clear results and most importantly, protects my Bible from any leaking or bleeding through to other pages when using Distress Oxides, Water Colors and more! I am absolutely thrilled about my newest craft/Bible purchase.
