Enjoying Life’s Moments: Some Days Ya Gotta Dance…And Sing 40

So life hasn’t been perfect recently to say the least.  I haven’t had the energy to be the greatest mom, get work done, clean the house and just keep up with life.  You all see the “fun side” and the “crafty side” and the “happy” side of Megan a LOT , but trust me when I say, it is not always happy.  I get down, depressed, sad, don’t want to get out of bed, more often than I’d ever like to truly admit!

I do still believe there are moments to enjoy everywhere and everyday! Even when sad or down and just the other day, I was preparing for CHA and letting the kids play.  One of the “grand plans” I have for this particular CHA is the Paper Crafting Rock Star theme for our Booth (#1039 if you can stop by) and I plan to have a few break out sessions of Rocking Karaoke!  I was testing the system and all the fun things we are planning (sometimes work is fun why not?) and the kids heard me play “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” – Jena promptly ran over and said “I want to sing Gnomeo song!!!” so I gave her the Mic and here is what we got!!!

This just melted my heart completely and the rest of the day we ended up singing, reading books, playing puzzles then finished with dinner at Culver’s and Madagascar 3 with Cotton Candy and Popcorn!  Total moments to enjoy!

It’s easy to SAY Enjoy the Moments, it’s easy to feel like its a nice way to live.  Reality is, its not always! BUT I’m still here to try to make you smile and take time to breathe and to just let go, enjoy, be content and find the true source of Joy in any situation.  I’m preaching to myself right now 😉

I hope this gave you a little smile today!  I know it’s not a crafty post – but its part of life to share – never be afraid to whip out that camera or in my case a Phone and capture those moments!  A pretty bird, a beautiful cloud, a song on the radio with you singing out loud, anything!

*More info about CHA

CHA stands for Craft and Hobby Association.  It is a trade show event for Crafting professionals and Retail Buyers and Sale folk, it is not open to the general public, but I know many of you that follow aboverubiesstudio.com are trade professionals, own your own shops, or other things, so I like to give everyone the info on what’s going on.  This year CHA takes place in Chicago from July 17-19 and like I said, I’ll be at booth #1039 showing all kinds of cool products and educating stores about Paper Layerz and ME ink, sparkle lights etc…

This is the PERFECT time of year to contact your stores and let them know that you love any or all of our products and that you would like them to carry them in your local stores, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, etc… You can use a pre-written letter to just sign and send off if you’d like or just write/call in with your own words.  Let your store buyers know we will be at CHA booth #1039 and they can take advantage of our show specials to try any ME products out in their stores!

    You make me happy. You see I think we all have those moments. I have those moments and it helps to let out. Look how great your day ended up? I am grateful that God has you in his hands. How can anyone survive with out him? You inspire me and when its time its time to show your creative idea. I am going through the same. I know I have creative ideas and if its time then I will go live with the whole thing. TFS you inspire many. {{hugs}}

I love the video and love watching all your videos, I have just started making cards in January and with all the videos out there I have learned lots.

You are just so cool! I wish I knew you in person. Your kids are precious! I am a great grandmother and I have two great babies as I call them, one girl Raygen 5 months and her brother Collin he is 2. They are the sweetest babies ever. Just wait till you have great babies! lol Hope you are feeling better and thanks for the sweet video!

Moments, once passed, can never be recaptured again. You made an investment in your children’s future. Once you get Madagascar 3 on DVD you can play the ‘Remember when we did ****, it was so fun’.

  • Marilyn

Megan, sorry life has been so hard for you lately. Charles Stanley has a good book called. “How to Handle Adversity.” I read it when I was dealing with a tough situation in my life. I am sure that with your dental problems and trying to take care of your kids on your own, life has to be getting you down right now. But remember, this too shall pass.

  • emilie boyd

she is adorable. Keep your chin up . this will all pass but that is easy for someone to say who is not going through the rough spots. Had a few in my life and survived a lot of bumps in one piece thanks to God! He is with you.

  • Rebecca

That is THE MOST ADORABLE VIDEO EVER !!!! Thank you for making my day! I, too, am going through a rough patch, with my teeth as well as my overall health, and your posts have provided me with more joy than you could possibly know! When I receive your e-mail in my inbox, it is like a ray of light upon my day!

I continue to pray for you daily! I’m so happy to see that you had such a wonderful day with your kids! Sometimes it just takes that little spark to light a fire! 🙂 May God bless you and your family!

  • Donna K

We all have those days Megan! More often than not for me too. It’s called being human. No one is perfect my friend and although we all try our best, life, stresses and responsibilities do get to us and we’re over whelmed. That’s when it’s time to sit back and enjoy the moment and reflect on all the blessing we do have in our lives. It may not be perfect all the time but it’s better than most people have. Your not alone girlfriend! So enjoy your moment because it goes by so fast!!! Have a great day and thanks for being you 😉 !

  • Donna M.

I totally loved the video! Might go viral on You Tube- she’s adorable (& he’s handsome there @ the end)! Thanks for sharing a smile, Megan

Wonderful memories. You’ll find the kids remember the good times much more than the bad days.

Over the past couple of years, we have had struggles, too. I’ve scrapped those times, too, –hours cut at work, job loss, elderly parents needs, the exhaustion, moving from & back into our home because of flood threats, moving my parents twice. I want my children (all adults now) to look back at my scrapbooks and see that their parents had the good times AND the bad times. I wished last year that there were more “disaster” papers and scrapping materials available. So many people deal with floods, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, illness, etc. It just as much a part of the human existance as the fun, happy times.

Things are improving for us. This week I got the last of our boxes unpacked from our flood move. It’s been over a year ago I packed them. Hurray! And I’m thankful.
Blessings to you and your family. This too will pass.
    P.J.

Wow……. sooooo very sweet and precious. I have faith that everything will work out for you. Sending postive energy your way, just reach out and grab it. Lotsa love to ya.

Megan, If you find it happening more often than not, don’t feel ashamed about seeing a counselor. Even if you think that other’s would find your life satisfying, and you SHOULD feel happy, there is no right or wrong way to feel! I am a counselor (can you tell?) :), and some of the things that you said made me feel that I should at least try to contact you. On the other hand, it is normal to feel down every now and then, but not all the time, and certainly no to the point of not getting out of bed. It may be that you are overwhelmed with life, motherhood, and business and need a break or need to ease the load. Hope this doesn’t offend you, but I would hate for something to happen, and not to have reached out. You can reach me privately by my email.

Been having a really hard time latley and it made me laugh and cry at the same time. Thanks for the reminder, loved your video.

  • Cyndi

Oh, I’m crying! I don’t have a girl or little people in the house anymore, thank you for reminding me of how beautiful this time was. Those kids are so blessed to have this awesome woman for a mom. Thanks for sharing, Megan!

  • Linda W

These precious moments are the moments we capture forever in our hearts. In your case, you did it literally on tape! Benson and Jena are adorable.

  • Shana

Love the music video! Jena just may be the next music STAR! 🙂 Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for reminding me that it is the moments that are important! Clean house can come later, when my girl has moved out. Besides, where would Charolette live if I got that cobweb up in the corner.;) Take care!

Megan Megan Megan….. I have mixed feelings right now…. I am happy that you posted your true feelings but sad that you have those true feelings. I suffer from depression and I get so upset when I WANT to scrapbook but just don’t have the drive. I try to watch videos of people scrapbooking and all I see is a happy faces, which depresses me more. You are right, when the camera is off, no one knows. When the camera is on and you are going through the motions, no one knows what is going on in your mind. You do a wonderful job, have a beautiful group of followers, which you have made friends. Thanks for pushing yourself for us and for your family. Life is worth living, whether you are going through it happy or sad.
As far as your Jena videos…. keep ’em coming. LOVE IT!!!! By the look of those kids’ face and actions, you are an awesome mother and mom to them.

  • colleen brown

You are an inspiration to all of us. espically me!!!! im not a crafty person I JUST WANT to be. i only copy other cool stuff i see and do i never come up with my own ideas so i just thank God there are people in my life and in the world.like you. we all have ups and downs. God bless you that you will soon feel better and be better mentally also cause when ya dont feel good you cant feel good mentally . Thanks for the video your babies are adorable and what a blessing. cb

  • Lara

I just love this- your voice is stunning. I know this is a time of change and that is never easy! I believe in you, and echo what the counselor said, there is no shame in reaching out for help. Sometimes having someone to talk to makes all the difference. I am praying for you! May your joys outweigh your sorrows! I can not tell you how much your regular videos mean to me- you do a great job! And are so appreciated!

  • Rebecca

What an adorable little girl! She reminds me of my daughter when she was that little. Now as a teen, she is involved with a performance arts school. It is so great for them!

I understand how you feel. Just as I was going through some major marital issues due to my husbands health issues, my sister decided that it was too much of a problem to keep me in her life! I gained weight from stress eating. Having my crafting and all the people I have met online through blogging has been so helpful. Just hang in there and savor life’s happy moments! It is the sadness and stresses that make those days so much more appreciated!

  • Shawn Mosch

Megan . . . I have a pile of laundry to iron, the house needs to be cleaned, I am only on 2009 for my personal scrapbooks . . . but I remembered to enjoy the moments this weekend and go to all of my daughter’s soccer games (she scored two goals!) And THAT is what life is all about. The other stuff will wait and when the kids are older they will remember that we shared those moments with them . . . they won’t remember that I did any of those things on my “to do” list.

Megan, I love that you know you can share your thoughts and life with us and that we care about you and your family and not just the crafting help and products you provide. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Tough times eventually pass and days get brighter. Isn’t it great to have children ? They can always make us smile even in the toughest of times. Your day of music and puzzles and Madagascar sounds wonderful ! Those are the things that memories are made of, the kind that last a lifetime. It’s clear that your kids are lucky to have such a loving mom !

  • Vickie

Absolutely adorable!! And listen to you…not only are your crafty, you can sing, too!

I read a quote yesterday, that made me stop & think, “God doesn’t give us only what we can handle, he helps us handle what we get.”

  • Jane Dubois

Oh Megan! You don’t know what your videos do for me. I live in the country, not the city, and I don’t always have company come to visit. There are weeks when I only see my husband. He’s a sweet guy, but sometimes I need some “girl time.” Your posts and videos make me feel like I have a friend who keeps in touch. Thank you so much! God bless you and your family. I’m praying for you and I want you to remember that it will be over soon and you’ll be on the mend.

  • Cris Christman

Oh Megan, you and your family always warm my heart when I need a little cheer me up myself….You ARE the greatest Mom no matther what type of day you are having and God has blessed you for being the person that you are…please keep up with your fun videos and hopefully you will be feeling better in no time..<3

  • kim

I read this quote on facebook-
“Its not what I have been throught in my life that defines who I am, It’s how I got through it that has made me the person I am today.”

    Hang in there, Kim

  • Jennie (Java Jen)

Megan you are such a trooper and I hope you know that your an inspiration to many of us out here. I am not artistic but in watching so many of your videos or looking at what you do it makes cards/scrap booking easier for people like me. I hope that you are feeling better soon. Continuing to pray for you and your family.

  • Leila

The video is so cute…your kids are adorable! Besides being a creative person, you can SING too…wow! Saying prayers that your dental problems ease up soon. Take care…sending you aloha from Hawaii.

  • Cynthia G.

Megan your only human and God only gives us what we can handle. He gives us trials to make us stronger and to persevere. With that we get wisdom and you in return can minister to others. Now the Lord has Blessed us with Megan to make our difficult times better. Hang in there and your babies are so stinkin cute. Sending scrappy hugs, kisses and will keep you in prayer.

  • Linda Vincent
