Cricut Cut Shrinky Dinks and a Totally Different Ink Technique

16 November
Monday, 16 November 2009 22:11 Written by Megan Elizabeth 30 Comments

You are going to LOVE this – I hope! ;)

I learned about this awesome tool that is in most homes to make an AWESOME inking background technique…You should be AMAZED at what some SHAVING CREAM can do!!! :)   I was – but I’m not hard to impress! lol :)

I hope you enjoy this “Blessed” Cricut card that was made from:

  • Stampin’ Up Card Stock
  • K&Company Urban Paper Pack
  • Shrinky Dink Paper “Frosted”
  • Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks
  • Stampin’ Solutions Cricut Cartridge
  • Tim Holtz Distress Inks
  • Black Hemp String
  • Pop Dots
  • ATG Gun
  • Heat gun or hair dryer to set in the ink
  • and don’t forget the Shaving Cream!

Can’t wait to hear what you think and if you think you’ll try it at home! :)

YouTube Preview Image

Oh and a side note for after you watch the video -

It works SO much better to have a thicker layer of Shaving Cream before you put your ink down – it swirls SO awesome and you can do a lot more with it – SO note from doing this a few times – THICKER LAYERS! :)

Very nice. I’ve never tried the shaving cream idea. I love the shrinky dink material. I color mine before shrinking.

Thanks so much for sharing the idea of using the paint brushes. My daughter and I are hooked on this technique. We ended up buying 50 brushes and marking them with all the different ink colors. I cannot wait to show her this technique. I think a trip to Fred Meyer for shaving cream in on our list today. That card turned out so sweet.

You can also do this technique using soap bubbles; blown bubbly with a straw, instead of the shaving cream.

It’s in the cutting guide – but I use the hightest depth and pressure multi cut and speed usually on like 3 or 4. :)

Massy is good! I just would like to sugest, if you could finish your videos with a picture of the project, or something like that, so we can see the details of it, in a close.

    Hugs from Brazil, dear.

Would you believe I have shrink art material I bought, gosh, over 16 years ago? I found it recently when I was going through some of my old craft supplies, and have been wanting to use it. Your video has inspired me to go ahead and just do something with it. As always, thank you so much. I love your videos. Oh yes! Can’t wait to get my copy of the DVD, ordered it a couple of weeks ago.
