Alcohol Ink Altered Scrap Caddy Lid

Today’s been one of those enjoy the day editing videos because it’s snowing kind of days.

So I made this little video showing how I altered my Cricut Cartridge Caddy and my Stickles Bottle Caddy made by ScrapCessories.  There is a list of retailers on their site that you can purchase them from.

(I had bought mine from Custom Crops and then ScrapCessories was so kind to give me a few.  While ScrapCessories was super nice in gifting a few to me – I only endorse this product because I love it and believe in it.  The Caddies have totally changed the organization process of my scrap room and I LOVE them! Now that I mentioned that, back to the project! :) )

I used the Viva Decor Violet and Pink Alcohol Inks with my Sponge Brush to coat and marbleize the white lids to my caddies.

I hope you find it enjoyable and find them as pretty as I do :)

Also, make sure you watch to the end, because there are two special projects made from the New Forever Young Cricut Cartridge!  :) Yay So FUN!

Pretty!!! I used the gold alcohol ink from Viva Decor that I picked up from you at CHA on a project today. Using Sizzix dies, I cut some locks and keys from aluminum and colored them with the gold alcohol ink. Used them along with some chipboard cherubs, hearts, etc as dangling embellies on one of the cute favor boxes from Tie the Knot. FUN!!! Love those alcohol inks!!!

Loved what you did with them. I do tend to go a little crazy with the alcohol inks. I will put them on the pets if they’d sit still long enough. I’ve decorated my kids plastic pencil boxes.

I’m not wild about working with alcohol inks ….. :?

But those cards are cute! That Forever Young is
    a wishlist kind of cartridge!

  • Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 9:37am

Thanks for sharing Megan. Could you use the Tim Holtz alcohol inks instead of the Viva Decor? I have some Tim Holtz inks that I used to color some skittles and have been at a loss as to what else to do with them.

I sooooo want the Forever Young cartridge. It’s on my must get list. :)

I have always wanted to try the alcohol inks but wasn’t sure what to use them on. I think I might give this a try on other containers that have old or stained lids. Thanks

    Megan,
What a neat idea and I love the boxes. Why don’t you give away a box after you have done the top. What a neat way to advertized Above Rubies. When someone see’s it they will say what does athe AR mean and that person will tell them. I am working on a card #5 today for a Birthday. I have a cousin and mother-in-law with Feb. Birthdays. I love the card with the young girl in the pink the colors are so soft.
Take care and enjoy the snow. Kentucky had it 2 weeks ago.

Hello, I like the card and purse idea. Haven’t been able to check your site until today due to the snow we got in Oxon Hill, MD. I notice there is another great creator name Peggy, what a wonderful name. So, I will be using Peggy1 when I leave a comment.

I love that technique, Megan! I don’t have any of the scrap caddies, but the technique can be used for other things. Can you believe that I don’t own any alcohol ink? I have just about all supplies available out there, but somehow was just never too interested in the alcohol inks. I might need to get some and see what I can use it for.
