Tuesday Tutorial: Close to My Heart Shaped Christmas Card 75

Hey everyone

This is going to be my last Tuesday Tutorial for the year 2011 as I take a little break for some family time during December – DON”T Worry! I will still be checking in and posting fun things during December – but this is the last Tutorial for 2011.Ā  šŸ™‚ Tuesday Tutorials will start back up again in 2012!

December 15th Class is open for registration

I’m very happy to say that our December 15th Class is open for registration – if you signed up over the Black Friday weekend, you do NOT have to sign up again. For those of you who have not signed up yet, the Class is only $17 and it is going to be AWESOME!

There will be at least 3 printable design downloads, a printable PDF file of instructions and over 2 hours of class instruction time.Ā  You will learn at least 5 different techniques for creating a beautiful home decor frame that you can change out for any occasion – but will be fabulous by the time you are completed in our class.

You will be able to post your finished projects and share them with myself, ask questions and chat with me LIVE the night of the Class (you can always watch the recorded videos and chat’s if you can’t make the live Class).Ā  This will have a new format and its going to be FAB-U-LOUS!Ā  šŸ™‚

>> Click here to register for this class and reserve your spot! <<
(link will open in a new window so you can come back to this page)

Christmas Crafts DVD and FREE Adhesive – We still have a FEW of the Christmas Crafts DVD with the FREE Pack of Adhesive included but not many… I am thinking this week might be your last chance to get the free adhesive combo deal. šŸ™‚ Click here to get the DVD…

Paper Layerz – We DID sell out of Paper Layerz completely over Black Friday weekend, but more is on the way and you can place your orders now

You guys are awesome!Ā  I again, am just so thankful and blessed that you all have supported this dream!Ā  These creations and my passion!Ā  Thank you again!

I hope you enjoy this tutorial and a BIG Thank you once again to Melanie Brown who introduced me to Close to My Heart (again I do not make any money as I am not a CTMH consultant, but I did receive products from Melanie for free to share with you). Many of the products used can be “tweaked” to use things already in your stashes – but its really awesome stuff if you’re looking to spend a little money on yourself this Christmas šŸ˜‰

This tutorial is going to walk you through making a really cute scalloped oval shaped Cricut Card with a layered frame.Ā  We did a little masking to stamp inside that frame and gave a pop of color with our sentiment…

Beautiful Card and so quick to make. I never would of thought of using the Cuttle Bug plate for a large block…that is so clever! I like the pearls that you used. I will have to buy some of that.

Enjoy your Holiday and hope to see more of your videos for ideas.

    Thanks for sharing

Gorgeous card Megan. I agree this is a great cartridge. I’m using it to make my Christmas cards this year but it is definitely not just a Christmas cartridge.

  • Virginia Schuyler Waddy

Also, I wanted to take this time to say thank you for a wonderful year of tutorials and all the wonderful tips you’ve shared with us. Take the time to enjoy your family during this joyous holiday season.

I love this card. I think you’ve sold me on getting this cartridge. I wonder if it would be possible for you to list the items you used in making your projects, so I wouldn’t have to replay the video again since I don’t usually get them all when I’m watching. Have a blessed holiday.

    • Kimberly

Hi, I sell Close To My Heart and would love to sell you the cartridge if you have not already found a rep near you. Remember, if you hostess a party (and we have an Inernet Party that requires no work from you), you can earn the cartridge for 1/2 off. It comes with 3 large stamp sets and 3 sets of dimensionals. It’s great! I just got mine this week.

  • Christa Hamilton

    Megan,
When you use the CTMH stamps you need to condition the stamps before you use them by stamping them on scratch paper a couple of times. Also make sure to use the squishy insert under your paper you are stamping on. This should ensure you don’t get blotchy results. Just wanted to pass that on to you.

  • BJ

WOW!!!! It doesn’t matter what you do — it turns out FABULOUS!!! I really would love that Art Philosophy cartridge/stamp set, and if it’s still available after the New Year, I may just treat myself.

Have a very Merry Christmas with your family, Megan, and I look forward to the class on December 15.

    Hi Megan,
God has surely blessed you and shown His favor upon you. You have so much to offer and share. I work on cards and my style is clean and simple and I love what I do. I don’t have much but am so blessed by God’s grace and love. May you have a wonderful Christmas and I am a super big fan of your’s as I continue to see how God has blessed and taken care of you. Beautiful card. Have an awesome, well deserved time off, Also wishing you and your family the most blessed of Christmas time. Jesus is the Reason for the Season !!!

  • Leila

LOVE the card! You are so creative. The tutorial is great…love it…especially the sneeze (bless you), the missing mat, and the cutting error…I am still a newbie at crafting (card making, scrapbooking, etc.) and I can SO relate to those things…LOL!! Thank you for taking the time to do these tutorials. May you and your family have a blessed holiday season and a great 2012!

  • Kimberly H.

I LOVE the card!! I actually became a CTMH consultant in order to get the Art Philosophy cartridge, and it was even better than I thought it would be! And then I fell in love with their stamps… šŸ™‚ I’ve become a total addict!! Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, Megan!!

  • Diane

I will be going to a weekend crop put on by a CTHM consultant. The Art Philosphy cartridge will be on my order form. Have a great holiday season. I will be looking forward to the new year and all your new ideas.

  • Melissa

Using the Cuttle Bug plate as a large block was a great idea. I am new to stamping, and have stayed away from larger stamps but not anymore! Thanks Megan! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your team.

  • MommyMe

I LOVE this card. I wish I could have all the wonderful products you used for this card…I guess I’ll have to get creative to replicate the stamp! Thank you for this “farewell 2011” video. It’s a warm welcome to the Christmas season! Happy birthday to your little ones!

  • Priscilla

When you stamp use the foam that comes with the stamp set under you paper. This gives you a cushion and lets you get a crisp, clean image.

  • Luria

    Hello Megan,
I wanted to say Thanks to you for a great year of wonderful projects, giveaways and so much more. I wish you a Holiday season filled with wonderful things. Have fun spending time with your family and friends.

    Luria

  • Dianne Bell

    Hi, Megan,
I have the Art Philosophy Cart, but the month I bought it in did not have that particular stamp set. But I do love the cartridge. Well worth the money. Have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends.

    Dianne Bell.

  • DianeK

Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. Now I can start my holiday cards by combining Cricut cuts and CTMH stamps; sometimes I get in a rut and use the same tools over and over- Now I can let my creative counter get cluttered with all those orphaned stamp pads, glitter pens, holiday prints, and even unused cuts sitting around! Holiday blessings to you and your family….

  • Judy

Just a little tip for stamping with the acrylic stamps . . . . Each CTMH stamp set comes with a piece of soft plastic material that should be placed under the piece you are stamping on. You will get a much better image. It acts like the cushion that is on rubber stamps. They should also be seasoned by stamping on a scrap a couple of times or using the eraser like you did. Loved the card and the cartridge is now my #1 go to also. Have a wonderful and safe Holiday, can’t wait for January and your new tutorials.

  • Linda Jamme

Megan, I am a bit jealous of you. I would so love that cartridge and stamp set. I was able to use a friends at a scrap weekend and didn’t want to use hardly any other cartridge. I like the helpful little hints you have. Your videos are always fun to watch. Have a merry Christmas.

  • Margaret Copus

Finally decided to take the plunge and ordered your dvd’s Cricut 2nd edition and Gypsy. My Christmas wish is learning how to use my supplies and making some beautiful projects.
Wishing everyone a joyous and peaceful holiday…HAPPY CRAFTING!!!!

  • Cathy Rapp

I just wanted to compliment you on how you do the videos. Love that you show what is done from above, nothing is missed. It makes it so much better than showing from the front. I agree with one of the above posts, never would have thought to use the cuttlebug plate. Scrapbookers are so inventive. One thing I would like to ask is where did you get your two tone pink cricut? I am a serious pink lover and have been looking for a completely pink cricut. Recently on black friday I saw one advertised in a sale paper from Menards. Thought I had hit the jackpot. But of course they didn’t have them. I have even been playing with the idea of painting my expression two tone pink. Don’t know how that will work, hope I don’t mess things up. Again loved your videos from above. Thanks for sharing.

  • Carol Loftus

Loved the video!!!! I am going to make that card right now! Adorable! There is a foam sheet that comes with the stamp sets and that works great under your paper to get a perfect image when stamping!!!
