I decorated this box for my mother-in-law for her birthday. It was made to hold mini albums or cards that I have made for her.
First take your paint and cover the entire surface of your box. After the paint is dry, you are then ready to decorate. I used a border and corner punch to create a scallop around my solid color cardstock which is used for the mat. Take your decorative paper and cut slightly smaller than your scalloped paper.
Paper dolls were cut and decorated and added to a piece of cardstock, which was rounded with a corner rounder. Rub-ons were also used to embellish these mats. The word family was cut and matted in the same color to add some demenision. Flowers were placed on the top lid of the box as well as along the sides. Skittle dots were added to the center of the flowers. These were placed on the box with super glue. Glue dots would not stick to the paint.
Once all your elements have been created, add to your box in any fashion. I used the decorative paper as my mat and decorated just as I would a scrapbook layout. That’s all there is to it! This was a quick and easy project, and an awesome way to jazz up a plain white storage box.
