Megan’s Wish List Item #5: Dining Room Chairs

Believe it or not – after 5 years of marriage and 7 years of “my own place” I never have gotten dining room chairs.  We have a “nice” table (yeah know its ok – I’m thankful for it 😉 ) but we have old, broken (semi unsafe actually) chairs…. so for while I’m at this wishing game…I wish for new Chairs – and I’d be ok with just about anything – but something that looks something like these I think would be nice….I may have to start “Craigslist” shopping after Christmas …maybe I’ll find a deal.

No way!! Am I the first one! Woo Hoo!!! So I have been running around singing this line for days because my little one has been singing it with me and I think it is utterly adorable!!

“Baby it’s cold outside!” 🙂 And then he says “it’s cold outside” 🙂 I found some old chairs on Craigslist that I absolutely LOVE!! I bought brand new ones a long time ago, but 109 buck PER CHAIR – That is just CRAZY CL is the way to go

  • Robin Gerot

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we’ve no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

  • Tonia Holm

The song “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” has been in my mind for the last week. I keep find myself singing it when I’m working on projects and such. Jesus deserves all the glory and I pray that we all remember what Christmas is all about, and share the love!

  • eileen

hope you find the chairs you want! we went a very long time with mending chairs and everything else for years. it wasn’t until we became empty nesters tat we could get brand new furniture that wouldn’t get destroyed by my lil monkeys. thanks for sharing this season. i appreciate all that you do.

  • Emilie Boyd

I got most of my furniture at auctions and flea markets. You can pick up wonderful pieces for a reasonable price. We Three Kings of Orient Are is a favorite of mine. mostly because it was a favorite of my mothers

  • Mary

White Christmas is my favorite song, plus themovie is really great to watch. Your not the only one that has a table and no chairs. But I’m not ready to seach yet. I’ll get there maybe by the Spring.

  • Thelma N

I love Christmas songs so its hard to pick a favorite. One song that I have a bunch of recordings of is Drummer Boy. Just something touching about how he gives Jesus what he can. Some times small gifts given from the heart are better than large gifts given out of obligation.

  • Debbie Moore

Up on the house top reindeer pause….out jumps dear ole Santa Clause…..down thru the chimney with lots of toys….all for the little one Christmas joys HOHOHO

I agree on chairs but would like to throw in a new table too:)

  • Trisha

Congratulations winners. Such fun. I did think of one more thing that has been on my wish list. My 25th anniversary is in February. My husband and I live in the country in an old farmhouse from around 1850. We have remodeled the whole house and the only thing left, now, is the porch. This is what I would like to have finally done after 25 years of waiting. Don’t you all think that that is about long enough? HA HA–hubby does not think this is a priority. patnbobcuddy at gmail dot com

We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Good tidings we bring to you and your kin; Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year. Oh, bring us a Rubby gift

  • Tina V

I had to wait several years after getting married before getting a nice dining room set too 🙂 I was so bummed when DH and I were ready to start looking for an inexpensive set and my father-in-law showed up with one he found at a garage sale! Several years later we did purchase a table we choose but still have the garage sale model that will be going to my DS for his college apartment this year! lol The holiday song that always chokes me up, and always runs through my mind…I’ll be home for Christmas, you can plan on me, please have snow and mistletoe and presents on the tree, I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams…I always think of loved ones that must be away from family, especially those in uniform.

  • facsmom

Why are you making this so hard to just pick 1 (lol)? Actually, I can’t. My family and I enjoy Christmas music and movies so much we celebrate Christmas in July by enjoying a 2nd dose of Christmas movies and music. One of my sisters and I used to have a sort of contest to see who had listened to Christmas music first . I am the forever winner now because I wake up to a dulcimer Christmas CD every morning and would you believe, at this moment, I can’t recall the song . . .

Megan, I can’t believe you have run most of this fun during the week you are getting ready for a special wedding. I think that’s part of the reason we love you and your family so much. I didn’t realize, until today, that, in 5 short years, you have married, had 2 children, launched a new business, and developed the number of products and videos that you have. WOW! Enjoy today!

  • Debbie Nall

Mine this year would have to be “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, because I actually am going home to Florida to spend it with my mom. Although hopefully there will be no snow!!!
Thanks for doing these awesome giveaways Megan!!

  • Marilyn

One of my favorite songs is Mary Did You Know Mary did you know that your boy will one day walk on water
Did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters

Hope your wish comes true and you get your chairs

  • Margaret K

Oh Daddy, just whose birthday is Christmas the Bible says that Jesus was born, Oh daddy please explain I had to ask because you hear so much about Satna Claus. (Statler Brother’s) I think we tend to forget exactly what this holiday is and sometimes a child says it best. So in this wishing game I hope you find some chairs. and on a childs level the package would be fun to recieve. Thanks Megan

  • Moira Efird

O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. I think of this song often because He deserves our daily praise, and worship. Have a super fabulous blessed day!!!! Moira

  • Sonia Rowe

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
    When we come.

I have always loved this song, even when I was younger. Thanks for all you do for us Megan! You ROCK!!!!

  • Cindy

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear,
voices singing “Let’s be jolly; Deck the halls with boughs of holly”
    Rocking around the Christmas Tree
    Have a happy holiday
    Everyone’s dancing merrily
In a new old fashioned way!

  • Parth A. Leach

“I’ll be home for Christmas, no, I’ll never miss it. Christmas by the fireside with that family of mine.” ~ Roger Whittaker

  • Kathy F

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…a partridge in a pear tree! I like the Straight No Chaser funny version of this song.

  • Christeen Baker

O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, on come ye, oh come ye, to Bethlehem. Come and behold him born the king of angels; o come let us adore him, o come let us adore him, o come let us adore him, Christ the Lord. I love this old English Christmas song when everybody sings at the top of their lungs at Carols by Candlelight on a balmy summer evening at the Domain overlooking Sydney harbour.

  • debby hodges

favorite Christmas tune is Little Drummer Boy, so the best line from that is the reason for the season “so to honor Him”… altho gotta add the bit “Then he smiled at me – pa rum pum pum pummmmm – me & my drum” 🙂

  • Vicki

I love Christmas music! I would say that one of my favorite songs is “Noel”. I just bought a new Christmas CD from a new recording star and she sings this song excellently. I love the reason we celebrate Christmas. I pray that here in America that we would stop trying to take Christ out of Christmas. I want to take this time to wish you and your family a very very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • Wendy

Since I have been decorating my house…

But the prettiest sight you’ll see is the holly that will be on your own front door.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

  • Teresina

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree! Thy candles shine so brightly!
When I finish decorating my Christmas tree this song is one of my favourite’s to play while sitting back an admiring the lights & beauty of the finished product.

  • Cynthia Guy

The one I sang in church last year:
Here’s all the lyrics because of how beautiful the whole song is:
Lyrics to Labor Of Love : written by Andrew Peterson (I left a link to his page)

It was not a silent night, There was blood on the ground
You could hear a woman cry, In the alleyways that night
On the streets of David’s town

And the stable was not clean, And the cobblestones were cold
And little Mary full of grace, With the tears upon her face
Had no mother’s hand to hold

It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love

Noble Joseph at her side, Callused hands and weary eyes
There were no midwives to be found, In the streets of David’s town
In the middle of the night

So he held her and he prayed, Shafts of moonlight on his face
But the baby in her womb, He was the maker of the moon
He was the Author of the faith
That could make the mountains move

It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love
For little Mary full of grace
With the tears upon her face
It was a labor of love

Grandma got run over by a raindeer. Walking home from our house Christmas eve. You can say there is no such thing as Santa, but as for me and grandpa we believe.
She’d been drinking too much egg nog, and we begged her not to go. But she forgot her medication as she stumbled out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning, at the scene of the attack, she had hoof prints on her forehead and incriminating claw marks on her back.

This is one of my favorites…. Going from memory!

  • Patti

Silent Night is my favorite. I even sang it to my daughter when she was a baby to help her fall asleep… and it wasn’t even Christmas time. Thanks for the “presents”!

  • Kim

Ok for fun my favorite Christmas song is
Dominic the Donkey sung by Lou monti

Ay, jing- a- di-jing, hee haw hee haw
    It’s Dominic the Donkey
    Jing-a-di-jing, hee haw hee haw
    The Italian Christmas donkey
    It such a funny song
Maybe I secretly wish I was Italian!

  • Dianne Bell

I would love to win. The last time I won anything was about 25 years ago and I won $50.00 in the lottery. That was a thrill. So hope it’s time for me to, maybe, win a surprise gift from Megan Elizabeth. Once every 25 years would be great. Merry Christmas, Megan.

    Dianne Bell – Sewpro02@Aol.com

  • Janet T

Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant is my all time favorite one to hear and to sing. My husband and I traditionally played this one every year for our Church until we changed churches now we just play it at home. A total favorite! But I really do love all the ones that are spiritual.

  • applegirl

This so funny. We had bought a table several years ago at an auction with no chairs. Last year Christmas morning, I was so excited about everyone opening up their gifts and having fun, that I did not realize that I was sitting on my present. Everyone started laughing when I asked if their was any other presents under the tree, because I did not want to say anything, but I had not opened any gifts. They told me I was sitting on it. Only then did I realize that I had 6 new chairs for my table sitting around the room. I do not know what I thought those people where sitting on or what I was sitting on for that matter. One Christmas memory I will alway cherish. Merry Christmas:)

  • Mary Lawrence

Funny you say chairs. I asked for a table and chair set… I have my parents table and chairs.. For the last 20 plus years. Now that the kids are married, boyfriend, grandkids… There is not enough room for us all. 4 chairs… That is a great thing to wish for..

  • Johanne L.

Petit papa Noël quand tu descendras du ciel avec tes jouets par millier, n’oublie pas mon petit soulier. Sorry it’s in french. But I really like this song since I was a little girl. Thanks for the chance and have a nice day.

  • Nancy

Thanks for the chance to win. This is a great time of the year. I love making Christmas presents and my Cricut is my favorite tool. It makes beautiful gifts.

  • Renay H. Moore

Glory to God in the Highest, Peace, good will to men,
Angels announced His arrival, in the town of Bethelem,
Alleluia, sing it, He will save from sin,
Glory to God, Hallelujah to the Lord, Amen!

    LOVE IT!

  • Teresa Ashby

    Lift up your heads
    No need to mourn
His hand is stretched out still
For unto us a child is born
    His promise to fulfill
    Jerusalem! He cried for you
He did not come to us in vain
His loving arms are open wide for you
    And he will come
    He will come again

    (Bethlehem Morning–Sandi Patti)

  • Kathleen

Oh Holy Night,I looked Away in Manger, and it Came (to me) Upon a Midnight Clear that this Silent Night brought us Joy to the World. It was asked What Child is This? Angels We have heard on High sang, Rejoice, Rejoice, Emmanuel.
We wish you a Merry Christmas

(look at 2nd hand shops for good buys on DR chairs!)

  • Linda

OK, Megan, I will grant your wish… lots of rich people are going to be getting new furniture.. try freecycle
just check yahoo groups and join the freecycle by you! you will not believe the awesome stuff people GIVE away!!
Now, as far as singing goes, the outloud kind… I love the people around me tooo much to do that! if you heard me, you would understand!

  • Pat Hyde

Let there be Peace on Earth. Just heard it performed at my grandsons (two of my four) and it gave greater meaning as sung by the high school choir. Christmas time used to be busy with my childrens’ programs but I go to all of my grandkids programs so it never ends……..its easier with grandchilden as you are not concerned about getting the Christmas clothes memorizing their parts or if they fidgeting during the performances. Merry Christmas and truly Peace on Earth to all.

  • Karen Battermann

    “What Child is this,
    who laid to rest,
on Mary’s lap is sleeping? ”
I love all the songs that tell of Christ our Savior’s birth which is why I celebrate Christmas!

  • Fran Luscher

Silver Bells, silver bells…..that has always been my most favorite Christmas song….it brings to mind the wonderful sights and sounds of the holiday. Many wishes of beautiful Christmas scenes to everyone.

  • Sharon Fultz

My new favorite Christmas lyrics are those that I over heard my husband singing yesterday ” you better on shout you better not cry…….he’s shakin a list and checkin it twice. I was cracking up silently in the next room

  • Sarah Joy

Oh how I love Chirstmas music 🙂 But my favorite song is sung many times throughout the year but whenit is sung at Christmas time it has a VERY special meaning. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday toyou dear Jesus, Happy BIrthday to you!! Oh how blessed we are that God sent His precious son!!!!

  • Laura Weinberger

Just heard “Bethlehem Rhaphsody,” the story of Jesus’ birth to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody & I gotta say, is fabulous/delightful (YouTube video w/ puppets). Otherwise, while I love LOTS of Christmas songs, the “and He shall reign forever & ever! Hallelujah!” from Handel’s Messiah/Hallelujah Chorus makes me want to fall on my face in praise & brings tears & goosebumps of joy!!! Just sayin… 🙂

  • Terresa (Trish) W

Oh Holy Night, although I love them all. I love celebrating the Lord’s birthday and I was fortunate enough to celebrate my birthday in His birth month too! I hope you get some chairs soon Megan, you have waited long enough. I am also going to check into freecycle, sounds like a great place.

  • Amie K

Oh how I feel your pain! We were married for 10 years before we finally bought bedroom furniture! Just let me say, it was well worth the wait–I got EXACTLY what I wanted! 🙂 Here is one of my favorite Christmas songs to belt out…it is on one of the Very Special Christmas compilations…

Excerpt from Christmas Time Again by Extreme:

Got to give a little more
    Remember what we’re thankful for
    My love, my God
    Let’s pretend just this time
Let’s keep the flow this times
That our Christmases will last all year

    Chorus
    Don’t you know that it’s
    Christmas time again
    I’m happy for you
You know it comes and goes
So let’s pretend that it’ll last all year

  • Donna

I love Christmas songs, both sacred & secular. But, choosing one, it would be “What Child Is This?” What a a beautiful song.
Hope all your wishes come true!

  • Jenny

Some of my happiest memories are when my husband and I first started out. After using an old table from my single days we bought a table and chairs from an unfinished furniture store and stained them ourselves….not my favorite job. 🙁
Now many years later my husband has passed away and I sold our house. A young couple just starting out bought the house and I asked if they would like the dining room table and chairs. They were thrilled and I was too that another young family would have years of memories sitting around that table. Christmas music makes me feel very sad but I count my blessings that I have five wonderful grandchildren, family, and many friends. Making cards, etc really helps me fill a void. I guess once a teacher always a teacher. I taught for 25 years and now enjoy teaching friends new techniques. The only trouble is I’m usually helping them make cards and got only a few Christmas cards made myself.

  • Donna Dial

Breath of Heaven, and it is even more beautiful when I have seen it “signed” while sung. I have enjoyed reading some new songs in the blogs above, thanks everyone for sharing.

  • Jane

One of my favorite songs of the season is a hymn, “Lo how a Rose E’er Blooming”. The cadence is unusal and it took a few tries to catch on to it, but once mastered one can never forget the beauty of that poetic song about the birth of Our Lord. Yes, I am a Choir member at my parish and music is a beautiful way to pray.
May you all experience the joy and peace brought by the Christ child this year and throughout your life.

  • Jennifer H

“Oh Holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Saviors birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pinning. Til He appeared and the soul felt his worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices. For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.” I remember singing this song in church at Christmas time ever since I was a little kid. I never really realized what the words meant until I was older and it gives me such joy to know that Jesus was born to save us, if we believe and repent. Oh I can’t wait for Christmas!

  • Barb A.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” What more can I say? It is beginning to look and smell more like Christmas everyday! My hopes and prayers for this season is that everyone would let Christ into their hearts and put Christ back into Christmas.

  • Debby J

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
    How lovely are your branches.
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
Will my prize be beneath them???

Hope you find your new chairs under your tree, Megan!!!

  • Pat L

“Joy to the World” is my favorite and also “Silent Night, Holy Night” with a candlelight service. Makes it feel like I was a little girl! Thank you so much for your helpful hints, tutorials and products that really are helpful, not just decorative.

  • Winnie

I’ll be “Rockin around the Christmas tree” with my love ones and friends. Hope u will be doing the same…merry christmas to you and your family!

  • Karyn Johnson

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum

Always loved that one 🙂 thanks for the chance to win

  • Joyce K

Deck the halls with boughs of holly – love the Christmas decorations to brighten my spirits – hmm better get to work on decoration. Hope you ge your chairs.

  • Brenda

Now that the boys are “older” and traditions have changed somewhat (we can have a nicer dinner, attend the later Christmas Eve service) my favorite 2 songs have become “Silent night, holy night, all is calm..” and “O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining….”. It is great family time, then Christmas morning still carries the same old traditions and fun ! Thanks Megan

  • KarenH

Today is our 16th Anniversary. I had a beautiful wedding in PA in the snow. As a matter of fact it lightly snowed that morning. We got married over a wooden walk bridge that crossed over a little creak. It was cold but I never felt it. It was just us and our kids and the Mayor that married us. It was so romantic! Couldn’t have been more perfect! Things have changed a lot from that day, but its so wonderful to have those memories. Our chairs are holding up from back then although we have re-nailed and re-inforced them often. My favorite Christmas song is a song sung by Bruce Springsteen, Merry Christmas Baby. LOVE LOVE that song! Merry Christmas Baby, you surely treat me nice. Merry Christmas Baby you surely treat me nice. I feel like I’m living in Paradise!

  • Lara Class

Oh come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
Oh come ye, o come ye to Bethelehem.
I love it because it has parts and we can all sing the different parts. Wonderful!
I agree with the person who recommended freecycle- it is awesome! Hope all your holiday wishes come true!

  • Heather

Did you know, that your baby boy has walked where angels trod, and when you kiss your little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God? This song brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Thanks again for the chance to win. Merry Christmas!

  • Julie H

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones we used to know.”

We woke up to snow yesterday, but unfortunately it’s melted already.

  • Shirley Anderson

O Holy Night the stars are brightly shining it is the night of the dear saviour birth. Love that song and its message. Thanks for the chance to win.

  • Sherrie

I love Christmas time, and everything that goes with it………. and it seems to go by too fast.
    Merry Christmas to all!

The weather outside is frightful (Northern Wisconsin this morning)
but the fire is so delightful
and since we’ve no place to go
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow……

  • Teresa B.

Oh so many songs at Christmas. I love them all. In fact I would even get them out after Halloween if I could. But the song I just learned to play on my Harp is Carol of the Bells. It is so beautiful. And so fast. It’s has become my fav. Merry Christmas Megan.

  • Blanca

    Feliz Navidad
    Feliz Navidad
    Feliz Navidad
    Prospero año y felicidad.
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
From the bottom of my heart.

  • kim mcnaughton

Soooo many favorites ….. jingle bell jingle bell jingle bell rock. He sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows if you’be been bad or good so be good for goodness sake. I saw mommy kissing Santa clause, underneath the mistltoe last night.

  • elaine

I used to sing “O Come, O Come Emanuel” to my youngest son before his nap. One day mid-song he said quietly “my mom has racoons in her tummy.” I stopped singing and said “what did you say?” His response was “I knew that would get you to stop.” Yesterday his daughter was born, our first grandaughter after 7 grandsons. Rejjoice, Rejoice! Emanuel shall come.

  • Dorothy Breitenstein

Ave Maria sung by Josh Groban on his Noel CD. I play this CD so loud you would think I was in a concert hall. What a gifted voice. Merry Christmas to all!

  • JD

So many wonderful Christmas songs to choose from… but my all-time favorite Christmas album is Alabama Christmas. Love the song “Santa Claus (I Still Believe in You)”

You always come around this time of year
With your big ole bag that’s full of Christmas cheer
And when it starts to snow the little boys and girls all know
Soon they’ll hear the sound of your reindeer

Now sometimes grownups grow up to believe
That you don’t really come on Christmas Eve
    But I don’t think that’s true ’cause I know I’ve seen you
In sparking little eyes around the tree

Oh Santa Claus, I still believe in you
And there’s still a kid inside of me that still believes you’re true
Oh Santa Claus, the kids are tucked in tight
And it’s time to play ol’ Santa Claus tonight

  • Judi farrell

    Ring Christmas bells,
    Merrily sing,
    Tell all the world,
    JESUS IS KING!

Would love to win anything this holiday season! The chairs are so cute! Target has a good choice of similar chairs at a good price!! Merry Christmas!!!! Hope the wedding goes well!! 😀

  • DianeK

I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas, just like the ones we used to have…..seems like Christmastime, through a child’s eyes, was filled with lights and pine scents and baking and stimulating sights and sounds….and SNOW! What a perfect picture-postcard kind of vision……OH, that’s an idea for a scrapbook page!!

  • Linda W

I’m Jewish but I love all the Christmas tunes, and. . . I can sing just about all the classic x-mas songs. One of my favorite gift for the holidays is having families gatherings.

  • Kayla

Jingle Bells.. Batman smells.. Robin layed an egg!

Ugh, my kids are at the age to just now be hearing these lyrics as if they are so innovative, and they think it’s too funny, and I hear it all the time right now (shakes head).. Hah!

  • Sandy Handrich

Oh Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Saviors birth! Praise the Lord for that special night so long ago and the most precious gift that was ever given. This is my all time favorite Christmas song.

  • Theresa

Jingle Bells ,Dashing through the snow ,love that part and keep wishing we would get the snow where i live so i can do this lol we never get snow

  • Daphne Held

    Fav Lyrics…hmmm…probably…probably Oh Holy Night….especially
” A thrill of HOPE the weary world rejoices
for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!”

This song brings tears to my eyes every time!!!

  • Frani MacPherson

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas…. not too much just a dusting so no one will have to do any heavy shoveling just let it drift away. Have a wonderful holiday!

  • stacy Blankenbaker

I love pop-Christian music and love the song “While You Were Sleeping” by Casting Crows:

    Oh little town of Bethlehem
    Looks like another silent night
Above your deep and dreamless sleep
A giant star lights up the sky
And while you’re lying in the dark
    There shines an everlasting light
For the King has left His throne
And is sleeping in a manger tonight

Thanks for the chance to share some of our favorite things/wishes with you this Christmas Season!

  • Lisa R

“Long lay the world in sin and error pining–till He appeared and the soul felt its worth! A thrill of hope! The weary world rejoices…Fall on your knees. Oh, hear the angel voices. Oh, night divine! Oh, night when Christ was born..Oh, holy night!”
    What more can one say?

  • Laura Carroll

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Yuletide Carols being sung by a fire and folks dressed up like eskimos.

  • Kimberly Davis

    Two of my favorites are:

“There’s no place like home for the holidays!” and
    Christmas Shoes:
“I want her to look beautiful if momma meets Jesus tonight. I knew I caught a glimpse of heavan’s love as he thanked me and ran out I knew that God had sent that little boy to remind me what Christmas is all about.”

This is such an emotional and touching song at this time of the season. It really does make you stop and think about what Christmas is all about. Thanks Megan for thinking of all of us at this time of year!

I remember watching “The Little Drummer Boy” on TV as a child…too bad they no longer show it! It brings back wonderful memories of how innocent we use to be, and of a time it was not politically incorrect to say “Merry Christmas!”

I, too, have been waiting for a nice dining room set…preferably one that seats 8…and I’ve been married for a while now. But, we live in a small house with no dining room. So, I had to settle for a small table and and 4 chairs from IKEA. It’s ok though, we’ve spent many a great times at that small table!

  • Dottie James

Favorite Carols: Joy to the World and O Come All Ye Faithful. I love the verses after the first verse of all carols. Usually some amazing theology there. “He rules the world with truth and grace and makes the nations prove the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His Love.” and another from We Three Kings (not my favorite carol/melody but some incredible lyrics) “Glorious now behold Him arise: King and God and Sacrifice. Heaven sings Alelujah; Alelujah Earth replies.” “Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing, O come let us adore Him.”

  • Jenny Clark

Well Miss Megan Elizabeth, chairs might be nice but as busy as you are would you even have time to sit down??

Watched your Christmas video last night — headed for my craft room today. Many thanks for all you do for us!

  • Cindy Sue

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Now dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh, or the fields we go laughing all the way. This is fun, because NO one can hear me and tell me that I’m singing off key.
    Thank You.

When My husband and I were engaged, he was the office manager of a furniture store. He was just out of college and managing 30 women! Swears he got 10 years work experience in his 1 year there! As money permitted, he tried to buy our funiture while he worked there. By the time he got around to the dining room furniture, money was going toward honeymoon savings and we ended up buying a redwood stained pine picnic table and benches. It did sit quite a few as long as the heaviest didn’t sit on the end and flip people off! That was almost 40 years ago. We did eventually get something new, but never a ‘formal’ dining room suite. We’re just not ‘formal’ type people!!
My favorite Christmas carol I “Mary, Did You Know?’ As far as the old, traditional carols, my favorite is “O Holy Night”. I love this time of the year. I think part of the reason is that I’m from the Texas Gulf coast and it’s one of the few times of the year that we may have winter weather for a change!
I hope that everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas. To those who are in military families and can not celebrate together, THANK YOU all for your sacrifices. Godspeed to your loved one, and may they be home with you next Christmas.

  • Melanie Keenan

Christmas is my favorite time of the year! I love all Christmas songs, and I have my favorites, but I LOVE “Homemade Kentucky Christmas” by Kenny Rogers. It always brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of growing up (we almost always had to make the gifts). Even today, our family would rather receive homemade gifts than store bought. In my case, they don’t have a choice, because I can never afford to buy Christmas presents.

  • Terry Gammon

I love them all to, but something I really love is all the songs from the Story Forgotten Carols. I don’t know if it is just Utah thing, But they are so meaningful. Mary let me hold her Baby, so soft and warm….

  • Marlise Ferrell

Silver Bells is my favorite Christmas carol, I love the lyrics, but especially the memories. It was my Mother’s favorite, and I can still hear her singing it everytime I hear it played.
    Merry Christmas!

  • Bobbi

My favorite Christmas song is Mary, Did You Know? Awesome thoughts on how His mother might have felt.
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters? When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

  • Dorothy B.

I love, love, love this song. I sing it all year long.

    Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
    Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
    Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

  • Janet Sisk

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. I love when we get snow before Christmas because that is what really gets me in the mood for the holiday. I also love any line from “What Child Is This”. I love the songs in the minor keys. 😀

  • Jan B

Oh Holy Night truly is my favorite. What a Holy Night it was when our Savior came to earth. I pray the Holiness of this Christmas shine in all hearts and continue beyond that precious night. Above all the frantic shopping, heavy traffic and festive planning, may the whole world hear the sounds of that Holy Night-of angles proclaiming His birth, of the cry of the greatest gift ever given to man and the silent awe of the shepherds as they gazed at our precious Savior.

    Beginning Again

    Author: Lois Duncan

The close of a year is a milestone.
We find it both painful and sweet.
A dawn has evolved into sunset,
A chapter of life is complete.

Its wonders are now only memories,
And all of the stories are told.
    Tomorrow’s adventures lie waiting
with new sagas yet to unfold.

Although we are glad to move onward,
the past is an intricate part.
    Its memories, like beautiful music,
Were strummed on the strings of the heart.

    So cherish those wonderful memories.
Hold them and cuddle them tight,
Then tuck them away in a scrapbook
and bid them a tender goodnight.

  • Jody S

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why; Santa Claus is coming to town. My daughter just brought home Michael Buble’s Christmas CD and I love his version of it…..she was singing it in the car to me. Love times like that!

  • Deann

I sing Christmas songs all year. it is hard to pick one that I sing all the time. I guess right now I would have to sing the Holly Jolly Christmas, it’s the best time of the year….. that is what my daughter is going to be singing in her Christmas program for school. The Hallelujah Chorus…although not strickly a Christmas song…moves me every time I hear it. A couple of years ago my family was doing our annual Black Friday shopping and we had taken a break to eat in the food court of the shopping mall we were at. I don’t know who sang it (a man), and I don’t even know the title of it, but it really choked me up. “The weather outside if frightful but inside it so delightful, since we have no place to go let it, snow let it snow, let it snow”….Please! I am trying to be patient, but, it is just so much more Christmas-y when its snowing!
robin in Canada, with no snow yet!

I have had so much fun this morning reading everybodys responses, remembering songs I haven’t heard for awhile and learning some new ones. I have so many I love. One silly song that brings back good memories is Rusty Cheverolet. When my son was young I drove an old rusty chevy and we would sing this song about our rusty sleigh at the top of our lungs everytime we went somewhere during the holiday season. But on a more serious note one that I like that I haven’t seen mentioned is One Child One Day by Reba

A small white church, a mountainside
Cathedrals filled with music and golden light
    On we gather everywhere
For the peace that’s always there
For the story that is told
of a birth so long ago

    One child one day
And the universe will never be the same
    From Bethlehem
Cause the angels voices rejoicing in his name
Oh and I believe with all my heart
that he will show the way
And you and I will meet one child one day

  • Laura K

Well since O Holy Night is my favorite Christmas song I guess I will go with: “O holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Saviors birth.” Thank you for the chance to win!

  • Debbie E

this new classic Christmas song is my favorite-Mary, did you know ?
    Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
    Did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
    Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
    This child that you’ve delivered
    Will soon deliver you

    Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
    Did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?
    Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little boy
You’ve kissed the face of God

    Mary, did you know?
    The blind will see
    The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
    The lame will leap
    The dumb will speak
    The praises of the Lamb

    Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
    Did you know
That your baby boy will one day rules the nations?
    Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
    This sleeping child you’re holding
    Is the Great I Am

I won’t be seein’ Santa Clause, Somebody snitched on me, He won’t come visit me because
Somebody snitched on me, Next year I’ll be goin’ straight, Next year I’ll be good, just wait

Oh oh oh oh, I’m gettin’ nuttin’ for Christmas, Mommy and Daddy are mad
I’m gettin’ nuttin’ for Christmas, Cuz I ain’t been nuttin’ but bad

Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad y un prospero ano y felicidad,
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas,
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas,
i want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

One of the children at my school came in singing this song, he heard it on the radio and it’s been in my head since 🙂
    Thanks for the chance,

  • Linda Scott

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer since I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl, have a soft spot for him!
Also love all the others, the season is so wonderful!! Good luck finding your chairs Megan!

  • Marissa Solomon-Garcia

    Bells on bobcats ring!

This is what my ears heard as a kid, and forever the image in my mind when I hear jingle-bells 🙂

  • Kim Hill

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. 🙂

BTW, my best purchase of 2011: 4 new looking dining chairs for $40 at Goodwill! (My antique chairs broke under my father-in-law, and he’s not a big guy! Boy was my face red, though not as red as his!) 😀

  • Wanda

I think the dining room chairs is a great idea… We got our about 2 years of getting married and it was so worth the wait… LOL!
Fave song goes to “Jingle Bells Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way….”
Though my son who is 5 loves to sing the not so nice version :Jingle Bells, Santa smells, grandma laid an egg” HAHAHA!
    Thanks!

  • Judy Menke

I have 2 favorites that I could just hear over and over.” I’ll be home for Christmas, you can count on me, if only in my dreams” This is so nostalgic, makes me think of when I was a kid during WWII. It tugs at my heart.
My other favorite is “OH holy night, the stars are brightly shining…” You asked previously what we wanted for Christmas. I am blessed. I NEED so very little. I have a warm dry house and food for my table. I am able to pay my bills, thus far. And even tho they are scattered I have family. And friends too. God bless each of you this season… BTW, of course I have a wish list of dies, stamps, copics, paper, a replacement for my 18 yr old car and to dream about winning the lottery (whoops, they tell me I have to buy a ticket)…..

  • Sherry

“I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams….”. My husband and I have missed so many Christmas’s together through all his years in the Navy, and now we’re going through the same thing with my son in the Army. It never gets easier and the though the song makes me cry, I do get some comfort from my dreams.

  • Arlene (GrandmaTo5)

You can get some really great dining room chairs at a decent price at overstock.com – that’s what I did after 30+ years of use started to ruin the chairs that came with my table. Hope your wish comes true!

Do I really have to pick just one favorite Christmas song? I guess it’s “Away in the Manger.” Love the gift a day idea. Such fun!

  • Trish S.

Oh you better watch out, you better not cry. You better not pout I’m telling you why… Santa Clause is coming to town! Yay!!!
    Trish S.

  • Diane

It’s beginning to look alot like Christmas . . . I hope not. I’m not a big fan of snow, well, maybe if it stayed off the road and sidewalks. Merry Christmas.

  • Janet K

Oh the weather outside is frightful (especially here in northern Ohio)…haven’t seen the sun very much lately! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

  • Janice

My favorite song “Mary Did You Know”. Like many others. But I love hearing the Christmas music and sing to it if I can. My voice has been affected with laryngitis last month and still isn’t up to singing much but I love to listen. You can get great things on craigslist. Good luck.

  • Cydney Fowler

I don’t know all of the words to list here, but I love that song “Mary Did You Know” – it is beautiful and the music sounds very current. Happy Holidays and I hope you get chairs. I have a thing about chairs. I have gathered sixteen mismatched chairs to go around my twelve foot long table a friend made for me. Someday I hope to get matching chairs – I like the shabby chic look of mismatched but I think new ones that match would be nice someday – sixteen chairs at a $100 or so each is a lot of money to spend when I have functional chairs I got free or on sale. ;^) Happy Holidays.

  • Phyllis Clark

I don’t have a favorite, I just love all the carols, though I do favor the inspirational ones, I love to sit in the room with just the lights from the christmas tree on with all the beautiful carols playing and thinking about something I can do to brighten someones day.

  • Francine Howard

Oh Holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear saviors birth. From memory right now, that is all I can remember. 🙂

  • Rachael

I love Christmas songs! It really is my most favorite time of the year. One song that always brings tears to my eyes is “the Christmas Shoes.” it is an amazing song!

  • Tiffany Brummitt

My chrIstmas song is He’s making a list, checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty or nice. Santa Claus is coming to town. This is fun!

  • Debbie

I love to sing, so there are soooo many. I guess one of may favs would have to be It Came Upon A Midnight Clear – that glorious song of old. Of Angles bending near the Earth to touch their harps of gold. I love the words and I love the tune and I love the picture it evokes ;- )

  • Sandra

Rudoph the red-nosed (Paper Layerzed) reindeer,
Had a very shiny (Paper Layerzed) nose…..

My grandkids keep singing it so maybe I should cut one out with my cricut for them!
    With Paper Layerz of course!

  • nanci

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why; Santa Claus is coming to town. I’ve been singing this to my 3 year old for several weeks now. Good luck on finding chairs. We are lucky to have a Mennonite community nearby and they make wonderful hardwood chairs that are reasonably priced.

  • Sheila Romeri

I love all Christmas songs it is so hard to choose. “Frosty the snowman was a very happy soul. With a corn cob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made of coal. “

  • Pat

Well Megan, you definitely live in the right area for quality made chairs. I LOVE Amish made furniture!
Songs would include but not limited to, Oh Holy Night, Silent Night, Do You Hear What I Hear. Hope everyone will hacve a Merry Christmas, and no I am not ashamed or afraid to say Merry Christmas, and not gonna say Happy Holidays.

  • Pam B.

Hi Megan, Merry Christmas and thank you for all the wonderful giveaways. There’s a relatively new Christmas song on the market called “If Mama meets Jesus tonight” or also titled the Christmas shoes.
It’s so beautiful and brings a flood of tears to my eyes every time I hear it. My husband passed away five years ago on December 15th and this song really touches my heart every time I hear it playing on the radio.

I have to agree with Pat, amish made furniture is the absolute best. I hope you receive all your precious heart desires on Christmas Day. Sweet blessings to your family and you. Pam B.

  • KMG

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A newborn King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum

  • Kim Allen

I have been singing this all day since I heard it on the radio this morning. Here is part of it
    Santa’s got a little friend,
    His name is Dominick.
    The cutest little donkey,
    You never see him kick.
    When Santa visits his paisons,
    With Dominick he’ll be.
    Because the reindeer cannot,
    Climb the hills of Italy.
    Hey! Chingedy ching,
    (hee-haw, hee-haw)
    It’s Dominick the donkey.
    Chingedy ching,
    (hee-haw, hee-haw)
    The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
    (la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)

hehehehe its such a fun little unusual song!
    Thanks

I adore the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Forever, and ever, Hallelujah, Hallelujah! We went to “Tuba Christmas” today – over 150 tubas, sousaphones, and euphoniums on stage – and arrived just in time to hear them playing that. It was wonderful!

  • Janet Cooney

I work retail and have been listening to Christmas music for months, “Fiiiiiiiive Gooooooooolden Ringgggggggggs” is the part of the song I sing out loud everytime I hear it!! I just get a kick the way the singer elaborates on this part of the song!! Merry Christmas to all!!
    Janet Cooney

  • Jessica B.

We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year!

There is just somthing about this song that always gets me into the christmas cheer when I start feeling the grinch come on!

  • Jackie B

Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love all the Christmas caroles. This year I have to add a nother song to my list. My 6 yr old grand daughter was laughing hysterically when she told her aunt “Grandma Got Ran Over by A Reindeer”. I never heard this song but after hearing her laughter I will have to find it. Thanks Megan for making the days leading up to Christmas less stressful and enjoyable.

  • Fran

“Sweet Little Jesus Boy” is the real reason for my joy this season, but the secular side of me would like to say “Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing — a ring!”

  • Sheila Peckham

“Silver bells, silver bells, it’s Christmastime in the city.” makes me gals to live in the country–and I would love an entire kitchen make over for Christmas but not sure I could find that on Craig’s List

  • BJ

I love all Christmas carols. Interestingly enough I substituted in a second grade class yesterday. I read aloud the book Silent Night which is a picture book of the lyrics. After the reading I asked how many of them knew the song. Only 3 of the 20 knew it. I asked them would they like to sing it (as I am not a singer and that is a hard song). They tried but were either off in words or tune. I gathered enough courage to sing it for them. They made my day. Their little faces lit up as I sang and I received hugs afterward. Silent Night will be my favorite for a while.

  • Mary Solomon

“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire” that would have to be a line from my favorite Christmas Carol.
Love your site and just adore your Paperlayzers. Keep up the good work.

  • Susan

I saw this video on youtube by Becky Kelley, and it really touched me. Part of the lyrics are:

Where’s the line to see Jesus?
Is He here at the store?
    If Christmastime is His birthday,
Why don’t we see Him more?

  • Pat

Good luck on finding dining room chairs. I think I had been married about 25 years when we finally got a nice dining room table/chairs. My chairs are very solid and should last longer I will last. As for a favorite Christmas song, it’s hard to pick one. I love Christmas music but I think it would be Silent Night.

  • LindaP

Just received my first pack of Paper Layerz. Can’t wait to try.

I’ve been married 31 years and on our 10th anniversary we were to get a new dining room set.
Still haven’t gotten one!!! Hope you get yours!

  • Carolyn N.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer…….walking home from our house Christmas eve…..
I always thought this was too funny. Now that I’m a Grandma, maybe a little less funny, but amusing just the same.

  • Della Read

We just bought these exact chairs today at Ikea for $20 each. I couldn’t believe the price and they are really sturdy!! We’ve been married for many years and our current dining room chairs are much too big for the space so we’ve been making do as well and decided to go ahead and get them today for a dinner party we’re having tomorrow.

My christmas song is Hark the Herald Angels Sing … glory to the new born King…

  • Shari

Here it goes…. There’s lots of room for him in our two-car garage I’d feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage

I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs Oh what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes to see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamusfor Christmas Only a hippopotamus will do No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses I only like hippopotamuseses And hippopotamuses like me too!

On a more traditional note, I would say Mary Did you Know(I think that’s the name) by Trash Yearwood.

  • Debbie B.

I love so many Christmas songs. Let’s see I think a newer one in the past years would be “Mary Did You Know?” If sung by the right person it is beautiful! Thanks Megan for all you do. Hope you get some chairs before 1 of you falls to the ground!!!

  • Jeri

This is the song that makes me smile and happy every single time I hear it.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
    Only a hippopotamus will do
    No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
    I only like hippopotamuseses
    And hippopotamuses like me too!

  • Nikki L

Dancing and prancing in jingle bell square, in the frosty air. What a bright time, it’s the right time, to rock the night away. Jingle bell time is a swell time to go riding in a one horse sleigh.

  • Lisa LeMay

“Faaaaaall on your kneees! Oh heeeaar the angel’s vooooices! Oh niiiight diviiiine, oh night divine.” I LOVE O Holy Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and O Come O come Immanuel and Jingle Bells and The Christmas Song and—OH I JUST LOVE THEM ALLL!!!! I LOVE Christmas! I love the music and the magic the season brings. I feel so blessed with my beautiful family. Merry Christmas, Megan & your family! Take care!

  • Lil

OH HOLY NIGHT and SILENT NIGHT can’t decide which is best …. Of course there is OH COME LET US ADORE HIM. My goodness so many to choose from!! God Bless You all!! Lil

  • debbie phillips

I love the song “Mary did you know?” It brings to light the humanity and reality of God humbling himself and coming to earth to fulfill his plan for humanity!! Merry Christmas!

  • Shirley E.

As a child my favorite was “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” I still think it’s cheery and cute and was just signing it with my 7 year old Granddaughter today in fact.
As a child I very much disliked “‘I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus”, when you think about it isn’t that kind of a scary song for a child!

  • Teresa M

We’re closer now than ever before
There’s love in our world and we’re showing it more
    Our world says, “Welcome, stranger.”
    Everybody’s a friend
    Favorite stories don’t end
    In our world
These lryics are from a really cute- forgotten Christmas movie: Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas/The Christmas Toy. It is muppets and so very cute.
Megan your Christmas wish kinda reminded me of the Otters in this movie. I just laugh whenever the Otters’ sit down, being Muppets and Otters—- they dont sit very well. LOL.
Best of luck on finding/getting some chairs.

  • arneta

Love this take on Mary and Joseph by dave barnes…
Mary was the first of three,
long black hair and sugar sweet,
daddy’s eyes and momma’s crooked smile.

  • Connie Smith

Christmas is all about family to me and since my mother passed away, it is increasingly getting more difficult to get everyone together at Christmas. My mom made it happen and that was very special to me. I can remember growing up and she has an 8-track player (wow, am I showing my age or what). She would put in her Bing Crosby Christmas tape and sing, sing, sing. To this day I love the rendition that Bing Crosby sang of Mele Kalikimaka (or some call it The Hawaiian Christmas Song) As I got older we sang it together……

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say
on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day
That’s the island greeting that we send to you
from the land where palm trees sway.
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii’s way to say
    Merry Christmas
    A very merry Christmas ,
a very, very, merry, merry Christmas to you!

    Brings tears to my eyes………

  • Nikki

My 3 year old has been singing non-stop since the Christmas Radio Station started right after Thanksgiving . . . Feliz Navidad . . .I wanna wish you a merry Christmas, I wanna wish you a merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart!!!

We so need new dining room chairs. It’s actually not the chairs (although they are not my favorite), we just need more of them. We have a family of 5 and only 4 chairs, one unlucky person at meals has to sit on an old farm stool, not very comfortable!!!

  • Bobbi Ann

I love Coming Home By Sugar land.
    “Coming Home”
Well hello, it’s been a long time
    And I wanna know
    What’s been going down
    Since I been gone
    And are you alright?
    Are you okay?
    Me, I’m alright
But is there anyway that you could
    Make space, say grace
Set my place at the table?
And tell ’em I’m coming home
    Tell ’em I’m coming home
Yes, I know, I know she loves me
    And she wore it so
And I know just what she’ll say
    Each time I call
    She’ll say, “Are you alright?
    How’s your work?
    Are you alright?
    How’s my baby girl?”
And I’ll say, “I’m feeling strong
    But it’s been too long”
So I wrote this song to say I miss you
And tell you I’m coming home
    Momma, I’m coming home
Angels on high at the top of a tree
Stars in the sky shine away, I can see
Oh Momma, please leave a light on for me
    I’m coming home
    (I’m coming home)
    Tell ’em I’m coming home
    (I’m coming home)
    F.U.N.
    Bobbi

  • Jan Lynn

I’ll be home for Christmas if only in my dreams. I will be at home dreaming about the goodies in your wrapped prize packages is what I’ll be doing.

  • Flo Hill-Rennie

Megan you are so inspirational I know you will get your wish. Well after reading all these comments and realising that most songs don’t really pertain to New Zealand as we are south of the equator and very warm at this time of year as we are heading into summer. But this is a Kiwi christmas song. (and for those that don’t know most New Zealanders call themselves Kiwis after the bird that is native to our small islands)
    you tube link http://youtu.be/nRcJ554cMY8
Now its well worth watching the youtube link after reading the words below.
Now Sticky Beak the kiwi, that bird from way down under
He’s caused a great commotion and it isn’t any wonder
He’s notified old Santa Claus to notify the deer
That he will pull the Christmas sleigh in the southern hemisphere.

    Chorus:
Lots of toys for girls and boys load the Christmas sleigh
He will take the starlight trail along the Milky Way.
Hear the laughing children as they shout aloud with glee:
‘Sticky Beak, Sticky Beak, be sure to call on me.’

Now every little kiwi, and every kangaroo, too,
The wallaby, the weka, and the platypus and emu,
Have made themselves a Christmas tree with stars and shining bright,
So Sticky Beak will see the way to guide the sleigh tonight.

Now Sticky Beak the kiwi, that Maori-land dictator,
Will not allow Rudolph’s nose this side of the equator
So when you hear the sleigh bells ring you’ll know that he’s the boss,
And Sticky Beak will pull the sleigh beneath the Southern Cross.

  • pattie weingardt

My favorite is I’ll be home for Christmas. This year none of our kids or grandkids will be home so it’s a really sad song this year. Thanks for a chance at the presents Megan. They sell the chairs at a rent to own store outright for a really good price and in awesome shape even though they are used.

  • Betsy B.

My favorite Christmas song is “Joseph’s Lullaby” sung by MercyMe:

    Go to sleep, my son,
    This manger for your bed.
You have a long road before you,
    Rest your little head.
Can you feel the weight of your glory?
    Do you understand the price?
Does the Father guard your heart for now
    So you can sleep tonight?
    Go to sleep, my son,
    Go and chase your dreams.
This world can wait for one more moment.
    Go and sleep in peace.
I believe the glory of heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight.
Lord, I ask that he, for just this moment
    Simply be my child.
    Go to sleep, my son.
    Baby, close your eyes
Soon enough, you’ll save the day
But for now, dear child of mine,
    Oh, my Jesus, sleep tight.

It’s a beautiful song!! It really makes you think about how Mary and Joseph must’ve felt.

  • Mindy C

SO with have two young boys we watch polar express alot and I really like the Hot Chocolate song in the movie and on the soundtrack. Hot, hot hot hot chocolate, here we only have one rule never ever let it cool(some lyrics)

  • Jackiedancer

My favorite is the old “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee. I’m just getting started with the Cricut rage, so love your site and all the new stuff to play with.

    Jackie

  • Tamra P

    Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
    Sleep in heavenly peace
    Sleep in heavenly peace

  • Chris K.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. I’m not sure this is my favorite Christmas song but it’s just the first one that popped into my head.

  • Chris

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. My dad loved chestnuts at Christmas time. We both would eat them, no one else liked them. That song reminds me of my dad at Christmas.

  • Michelle N.

Megan, I hope you get your chairs. Looks like you have lots of ideas to look for them if Santa doesn’t bring them for you. But I think you have been a very good little girl so here’s hoping…
I don’t necessarily have a favorite Christmas song-I love them all…even Grandma got run over by a reindeer, especially since I’m a Granny. Merry Christmas!

  • Brenda Letellier

Good luck finding new chairs….I think my favorite Christmas carol is Away in a Manger oh, and I also love I’ll have a blue Christmas without you.

  • Madeline Griggs

O holy night, the stars are brightly shining, it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth . I love all the Christmas carols. We have the radio tuned to the stations that play them all day.

  • LeeAnn from NC

My favorite Christmas song by far is “Mary, did you know ?” !!!! Hope you find some chairs that you like. I’d personally love a new mattress. That will definitely have to be the next big purchase we make.

  • Roxanne

Love your wish lists. I can’t pick just 1 song. Any carol that celebrates Jesus’ birth. Love O’ Holy Night. What Child is this, Silent Night, Love them.

    Thank you Megan!

  • Crystal Nichols

Last christmas I gave you my heart and the very next day you gave it away-Wham
I have another fave this year from Alvin and the Chipmunks called Ho Ho Ho, but I don’t know the lyrics by heart yet.

  • Eleanor

So many favorites, but two that speak to me are: Mary Did You Know……when you kiss your little boy you’ve kissed the face of God…………………………………….and……………………………….Oh Come All Ye Faithful. The chorus says: ” O come let us adore Him; O come let us adore Him; O come let us adore Him, Christ, the Lord.” I think we could sing this every Sunday morning as part of our worship. I sometimes do sing it in my heart, at that time. Blessings on you, Megan. It’s refreshing to find a young adult who values living by Christian principles. Hope you get your chairs 🙂

  • Lori Hinueber

O Holy Night and What Child Is This….I get chills when I hear these songs, of course, I love singing them at the top of my lungs and I wish that people enjoyed hearing them as much as I enjoy singing them…(I can’t sing very well!), but to me I sound great and it’s more about what you sing, right?
    Thanks!

  • Rose LaQuay

O Little Town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie… I love the arrangement by Amy Grant.
Secular – Star Wars Christmas CD, we listen to it every year!!!!

  • Judy Perry

One of my favs is by Trans-Siberian Orchestra – AN ANGEL RETURNED.

    The first lines are:

    An angel returned
    That night through the sky
    But time it was short
    He had to decide

  • Katherine A

My favorite Christmas song is “Mary, Did You Know”. One line is . . . Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?

My all time fave Christmas Carol is O Holy Night. And no one, I mean NO ONE sings it better than Josh Groban. Gives me chills every time.

“Oh Holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth.”

I love my antique chairs but when you see antique, read OLD! I have to work on them all the time and having one of my darling Grands pick a bunch of the laminated wood off one about broke my heart. Yes, they did laminate back that long ago and you can buy the stuff to fix it at Lowe’s ect. I’ll keep them the rest of my life and the little ones will grow up, darn it. But now I have my first Great Grand. How neat is that?

i learned something interesting that I thought I would share. On Dec. 3rd I went with my mom to the women’s Advent by Candlelight Night of the Father’s Love. Because of Christ’s birth, all is well between God and us. For through this great gift from heaven, we are reconciled with God and can experience holy peace in our souls and new life in Christ. To celebrate this new life, we come to sing “Nowell.” Some scholars believe that the word, “Nowell,” began as a shortened form of the phrase “Now all is well.” In old England, perhaps people used this as the Christmas greeting., “Christ is born,” to which would come the response, “Nowell!”

The first Nowell, the angel did say, Was to certain poor shepards in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, on a cold winter’s night that was so deep.
    Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,
Born is the KIng of Isreal.

OK…so there’s this song I can’t get out of my head because it’s been playing on the radio alot and I like…unlike my teenage daughters….they are NOT big fans…go figure. Anyway, it’s Justin Bieber’s song Mistletoe “Word on the street santa’s coming tonight, Reindeer’s flying in the sky so high I should be making a list I know But I’ma be under the mistletoe”….LOVE IT!

Ooh…so hard because I have so many favorites…Actually, the songs I really love do not have lyrics. I love the ‘March’ & ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ from the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky.
