Cameo Sour Cream Container for a Beautiful Gift!

01 March

Hey All!

I am so happy to share this video  that Cindy Burgess created for us using the Silhouette Cameo!  This is a REALLY great machine that I can NOT wait to get my hands on – and PS – She uses Paper Layerz and Sparkle Lightz! :) YAY!

This is a REALLY cute Sour Cream “container” to use for gift boxes, favors or a whole other slew of other things and I know you are going to be Inspired!

*********

Here’s an Edit In from Cindy answering some Questions in the Comments:

hi everyone…thank you for your kind comments on my video. I wanted to answer some of your questions.
the sour cream container and flower are both from the Silhoutte store. The sour cream container was a free file a few weeks ago, however it is now 99 cents now. If you have a cricut I believe there are several cartridges that also have a sour cream container. The dies are from papertrey ink, but you could use any die you might already have.

Again, thank you for your kind comments….
Cindy

Now I have another, sorta more “personal” story to share a a fellow crafter and Facebook Follower.  Here is the story in a nutshell…

Recently during Nap times, I’ve been working and I have the Ellen DeGeneres Show on while I’m taking care of things…Every single time I watch Ellen’s show I feel inspired and get soo happy and laugh at how show after show she helps to change someones life or she gives away huge surprises or whatever the case maybe.  Well the other day, I was watching and I posted on FaceBook that I wanted to do something special for someone and they just needed to comment with what I could do.

I have to say I am SOOO proud and Heart-Warmed by the comments of the “fans” there were over 48 comments and a BIG chunk of them were supporting sending Miss Kamilah Clark CARDSTOCK! Read her comment Below:

“Kamilah Clark Well, I was in the process of making some cards to send out to St. Jude. However, I’ve run out of cardstock and due to lack of finances, I won’t be able to finish the project. My goal is to be able to make those children SMILE!!! So receiving cardstock to help finish my cards would absolutely make my day! :-) ”

I was SO touched and OVERWHELMED by the comments back asking for me to send Cardstock to Kamilah!  Of course I had to and I’m thrilled that you all feel the way I do and want to PAY it forward, Enjoy the Moments, and do something KIND for someone else!

I wanted to share Kamilah’s address with all of you for anyone who is interested in helping Kamilah with her “task”!  I just think that this is awesome and I really just thought I bet there are other followers who would be excited about helping the cause

Kamilah Clark

PO Box 28030 Newark, NJ 07102

I am also SO excited about the Mystery Boxes that have been sent out and Donated to various causes as well!  I can’t wait to see how they are used to bring smiles to others lives!

You all are just so awesome and incredible!  Thank you so much for being so kind to others and “paying it forward”!  You all ROCK!!! :)

Good Morning Megan, I loved Cindy’s video, creative idea and enjoy watching her use all the new Megan Elizabeth products. I had never seen the spray adhesive before, great idea, I will definately be investing in some of that. We are doing a Bible study at our church right now with Beth Moore’s study of James.Reading how you and your supporters have shared acts of kindness are such a great way of living and showing Gods Great Love to our fellow man. You are such an inspiration to me.

Love this idea! Do you sell paperlayerz in one color? Suggestion given to make this for a bridal shower – but I would like to keep the color consistent without having to buy a whole bunch of packs to get what I need.

Cindy, I love your sour cream container. I made party favors for my daughter’s baby shower by covering empty toilet paper tubes with pretty card stock papers and pop dotted a paper rosette flower to each box.

This was great! What a cute little treat container! I agree with the question about having PaperLayerz in a pack of one color. I like to have everything matching and consistent when I do party favors, which is generally in multples of 20!

Megan, I’m not on Facebook, so I appreciate you sharing the information on this post. I love Cindy’s project. She took it from basic to beautiful, with one sheet of paper!

I am leaving office at my TOPS chapter & have bought special charms to give out to those others in the chapter that have done so much to help out during this past year. I was wondering how to present these and after seeing the video, a lightbulb went off! Perfect solution. Hmmm, I better get busy

Hi, great video! Just wanted to pass on a little tip to Cindy for an easier way to get an intricate paper design off the mat without damaging the design. I have found that when it is a very intricate/delicate design, if you just arch your mat and kind of roll it back and forth the design will pop up as you arch the mat, making it come off the mat without having to use the spatula and possibly risking damage to the delicacy of the design. i love these sour-cream containers. i wanted to know if there was a chance that the dies and the source of them could be listed along with the other supplies. i’m nearly deaf and i couldn’t hear most of what was being said on the video, but i got the gist of it. what i didn’t catch, if it was even mentioned, where she got the dies and the specific names of them. i would love to know. they look like papertrey ink dies but possibly a lot of dies look the same. thanks so much for all the good you do.

What I love about this project is that because the box is made from the reverse side of the PaperLayzer, the backs of portion of the flower and leaves that hang over have the same pattern as the box. If another type of two-sided paper was used, it might result in a “competing” and distracting back side with no coordination.

Cindy’s project is adorable; the video was so detailed, a fact that I truly appreciate. Though I have some PaperLayerz, I don’t have any of your newer products, but that will soon be changing! I have had my Cameo about 2 months and love it.

Love the Megan Elizabeth info-mercial! :) Great project that is so simple but very cute. I also love the idea of paying it forward, and am happy that she got the cardstock she needed to finish her project. You and all your fellow crafters are so generous and caring. I love this group! :)

Love, love, love Cindy’s Sour Cream Box.

Suggestion: please make a Video DVD on projects (like this one) using PaperLayerz. People would buy more PaperLayerz knowing that they have projects to use the entire sheet. I am new at card making but plan on buying paperlayerz to try. I own a Cricut Expression 2 and the Cuttlebug. Sooo much fun!

I absolutely loved the project that Cindy shared with us. The Silhouette did such a fabulous job with the delicate flower. It was very impressive. Also the hint about using spray adhesive was great especially for such a fine detailed work. TFS.

Cindy, Could you give us the dimensions of the sour cream container? I wouldn’t know where to begin to find it on my Cricut cartriges, but could probably make it happen in the Cricut Craftroom or with my Cricut Design Studio. It is a really cute project and I would love to be able to make it. Thanks.
